Will Money Paid Toward Individual Health Insurance Plan Carry Over If I Switch To Family Plan Mid-year?

Postby Donel » Tue Jun 13, 2017 5:27 pm

I currently have an individual health insurance plan through my employer with a $1500 out of pocket maximum. I am pregnant and will likely use up this amount through labor and deliver costs. After the baby is born, I will be adding him to my plan, which will translate to a family plan with a $4000 out of pocket maximum. My question is, will the $1500 I've already paid carry over toward the $4000 (meaning I will be responsible for the additional $2500) or will it start over (meaning I am responsible for the full $4000). I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO (Kentucky).

The first thing you should do is see if now you are pregnant if you have to transfer straight to a family plan. Some insurers require you to have family cover in place to cover the expenses related to pregnancy.

Any money you pay toward your deductible in the same benefit will still be credited for you when you add the baby to your policy. You should not have to start the deductible over again until the new benefit year. Just make sure you understand when your benefit year renews. Many employer-based plans renew on January 1, but some employer plans have a mid-year renewal date. Talk to your HR representative or benefits administrator for more information.

Yes, it will - when you add a person to your policy, the $1500 out of pocket will then apply to him as well.
You will have maxed out your deductible, and you'll be starting on baby's.

relies upon on what they supply concept to "low value". i won't be able to "arise with the funds for" the rattling Medicare expenses suited now. to boot, did Obama no longer say that he and "key" leaders of governments does no longer be restricted to this assurance? Does that imply they, additionally, would be fined for refusing it? Edit to Pascha: in the event that they intend to make a project, they extra perfect do it beforehand Sotomayor is seated. i think of that's humorous that those style of individuals balloting for and helping Obama via fact they think of they are going to be getting loose well-being care would be rudely woke up while they discover out, particularly of the wonderful care they get now while they wander into the closest ER, they are going to be summarily brushed off via fact they do no longer meet "policies" for scientific care.
