Will home owners insurance cover electrical issues?

Postby channon60 » Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:10 pm

We live in a mobile home and in the past few months we've had outlets and lights ALL go on along on side of the house. I'm thinking this may have been caused that came through a window in a bedroom. Any idea if home owners insurance will cover this?

Homeowners insurance covers sudden, accidental damage. It does NOT cover "maintenance" issues.

So, it depends on what CAUSED the "go". If it's DAMAGED, and the damage was caused by a covered cause of loss, yes. If not, no - but they'll make you fix it anyway.

Water damage is usually covered by flood insurance which you need to buy separately. Check your policy once though, or ask your insurance agent if you’re covered for water related damage.

It sounds like a repair issue not and insurance one. The homeowners policy does not cover the cause of a problem only the resulting damage.

Water coming through a window maybe covered. Call your agent or company. Only put in the claim if the damage is over your deductible.

~~You really did not state what you thought the cause was from, did you mean water came through the water? Some policies can cover certain situations, call your agent who will have full knowledge of your policy.~~

No. However, if the electrical issues start a fire, it will cover the fire damage.

No this is normal Maintenance and Repairs a home owner is responsible for. Call an electrician. Sounds like a bad circuit breaker
