I was laid off from a 100k/year position I held for 3 years in Jan 2008. I filed a UI claim immediately and I collected CA benefits until Aug 2009 (thanks to several extensions) I finally found a new position @ 70k year in early Sept 2009. After working just 11 weeks, the company laid off almost the entire staff, including me. Here's the question: Do I qualify for UI again and, If so, am I better off applying for UI immediately or waiting until Jan 2010 when the base amount will include my Oct and Nov pay?
