When Leasing A Car (pcp Contract) What Insurance Should I Consider Getting?

Postby Healleah » Wed May 14, 2014 11:14 pm

I have looked into GAP insurance, I realise that this is a must. This covers if the car is written off or stolen. But what about general wear and tear? Is there insurance for that?
Also, is there some kind of insurance that will cover cancellation (say, if I became ill or injured and was unable to work ((and so unable to pay the lease)).

NB: I am 19 years old, a student but I have the money to afford it (so thats not a problem) my Dad has agreed to be a guarantor. I need a new car as I will be driving around 13,000 miles a year. Opinions welcome :)
Thanks!

There is no insurance for general wear and tear.
GAP insurance only pays if the car is totaled and the insurance doesn't cover what you owe.
Your lender can tell you if they sell insurance for if you are injured or ill and cannot work.
You need to sit down with both the car dealer and an insurance agent and allow them to educate you.

You probably won't have a say in your leased cars insurance coverage. The leasing company has that covered in spades.
