The Ford Focus you refer to is equipped with an engine from the Zetec lines of engines. The suffixes differentiate the different types of Zetec engines. There were several suffixes to designate the various Zetec families of engines, but there was no T. There is a TDCi engine that's a Diesel.

At present, the name Zetec now only represents the trim package of the vehicles it's applied to. The T indicates a turbo-charged engine and would be accompanied by the engine size in litres, such as 1.0T or 1.6T or 2.0T. This is combined with the particular Zetec trim designation to produce the full model name such as Focus 1.6T Zetec.

Current production trims for the Focus are the Studio, Edge, Zetec, Titanium, Zetec S, Titanium X, ST1, ST2, and ST3.

If in doubt, consult your local Ford dealer.

THE T STANDS FOR THE TRIM LEVEL = TITANIUM. TITANIUM WAS THE HIGHEST TRIM LEVE AVALIBLE IN 05. IN 2005 THE ORDER OF THE DESIGNATION IS WHAT DETERMINS WHAT THE CARE IS. 05 = 2005, FORD = MANUFACTURE, FOCUS = MODEL, 1.6 = ENGINE SIZE, ZERTEC = ENGINE FAMILY, T = TRIM LEVEL. IF THE CAR WAS A TURBO IT WOULD BE A 1.6T. OR IF IT WAS A 1.6T ZERTEC T THEN ITS A TURBO ENGINE WITH TITANIUM TRIM.

MOST OF THE INFO KITTYKEE GIVES IS FOR CURRENT MODELS BUT ITS NOT VALID FOR 2005 MODEL YR FOCUS

What Does The T Stand For?

On older cars the valves were on one side of the head like this %O and it was thought that the gas entering the engine flowed between the valves and did not enter the cylinder completely or sweep the gasses completely out of the cylinders, To cure this problem Ford made the Cross flow engine or the model T oOo where the valves were positionrd on each side of the cylinders .The side valve engines had a camshaft on each side and the model T was the real hairy monster of that time
