You're an American visitor to Canada without travel health insurance? Stupid, very, very stupid.

No free healthcare and you are going to be billed. They are going to be looked after but you pay. When a Canadian discuss with the U.S. It is the same no free health care and also you better have the money.

You are not insured in Alberta and so your card is worthless there. There are certainly clinics, you are welcome to use them and pay the bill.

It will cost you about $75.00 to go to a walk in clinic in Canada plus any medication cost you may be prescribed. You may be able to reclaim the cost after you get back home.

Many Wal Mart stores have a walk in clinic though I am not sure about the ones in Calgary. I know some of the ones here in Vancouver have them.

But there are lots of walk in clinics around all over Calgary.

Canada does not have the sort of "free" clinics like there are in the USA because everyone here is insured. Even the homeless street people.

Nope, no such thing.

Nobody gets free health care in Canada.
Legal residents are covered (mostly) by our government health insurance, but that ain't free.
The health insurance is provided to Canadian residents only, no exceptions.
And unless you have out-of-country medical coverage (which costs extra), you have to pay the whole bill yourself.
