The Wizard Of Oz Postscript (heavily Revised) For Your Reading Pleasure. Do You Like It?

Postby Padraig » Thu Jul 27, 2017 10:38 am

After Oz

You never hear the awful tale of poor old Aunty Em

Her story has as much appeal as flying-monkey phlegm

But Kansas ain't so pretty after twisters, you can bet

And 'Happy Ever After' is a myth you best forget.

She climbed the cellar-stairs to find the farmhouse was destroyed

And thirty seconds later---all three farmhands: Unemployed

She sent their asses packing and kicked Toto in the teeth--

He found a pile of wood and quickly scampered underneath.

The hogs were hanging from the trees---impaled with hooks and blades

The silo looked to have been decimated by grenades

A weather-vane from three doors down had severed Bessy's head

And twenty chickens quivered under what was once a shed.

The tractor lay in pieces destined for a burlap sack

It's thought to be the cause of Uncle Henry's heart attack

The barn was gone, the horses too?as well as all the grain

And now that this year's crops are shot, here comes the needed rain.

Last words Henry said before his heart lost all endurance:

"Sorry, Em, but I forgot to pay the damn insurance."

The first "back story" of what actually happened while

Dorothy lay dreaming on the old iron bed.

Great meter and rhyme.

This true story expose' finally sheds light

on the "hell" that was "The Wizard Of Oz".

Clever for sure, Cheese.

No. It's very sad

so when you're done with Oz

may I have the keys to both the salon

and the saloon please?

I'm thinking of rebuilding and opening up shop again.

I can't help I have a thing for lovely fine strapping

barber chairs, the scent of bay rum and sandal wood,

sweet shops and mmmmm mum mumma

fine munchkins.

Besides, I already met Glenda. And though she's grown

old and weary and her home was trashed after the

great flood, well that wicked old baby girl looks and sings

like Janis Joplin now.
A bit batty, could probably

drink WC Fields under the table and sometimes smells

like burned hard boiled eggs, but what a great boom

chica boomin voice that old biddie still has and didn't Auntie Em

change her name to Mame?

Hmmm. Thanks for writing this CW because I was thinking of

leaving town but I can see something I didn't quite see before.

Very interesting. I owe ya one. Thanks.

Gotta get my butt movin

Bye!

Yes. It sort of reminds me a little bit like a

Tootsie Roll Pop.

You're surrounded by all this hard eye candy

only when you get right down to the middle of it

instead of something sweet to chew on

you end up with some decapitated cow head.

Shows the efforts poet has put in to bring a sad tale to life! Keeps the interest alive...till the very heart-breaking end!!!

Enjoyed it thoroughly...I mean, as a poem! :)

You are brilliant! The only line that tripped from my tongue was "The silo looked to have been decimated by grenades" I don't know if it's the decimated or the looked to have been but it is the ONLY line that I didn't read as well. This is so so so good! I am jealous but happy for you for the poet you are!

Not to mention Dorothy, now quite the schizophrenic;

she thought the hens were flying monkeys, Emmy called the medic,

gave her pills, red and blue, one for day and one for night;

but she had to double dose to really be all right.

The meds were so expensive, she ended up in a bordello,

then a man turned up one night, he was such a kinky fellow...

he brought along some munchkins and a pair of latex draw's

some whips and fuzzy handcuffs, and Dorothy bowed down to mighty Oz.

After the coz play and the BDSM she had the courage, heart and brains

to burn down the whole village, along with the wizards remains.

She left in the dark with Toto in a beautiful hot air balloon.

She won't be tapping those ruby slippered heels together, not anytime soon.
