My Son Does Not Have Insurance But Needs Shots?

Postby Gwrddywal » Wed Oct 11, 2017 4:59 pm

I just moved from Texas to Tennessee. My son's medicaid back home had just expired. I moved to Tennessee to live with my boyfriend who is my son's father. We were trying to get him insurance through DEERS program, but they needed a copy of the paternity paper but we waited and waited for it in the mail. Well, now my boyfriend deployed to Iraq.

I need to ask is, can I take my son to a clinic and get discounted shots? I'm not working yet and I can't show proof of my boyfriends income.

My son is overdue for his 18 month old shots.

I think I need to call the county health clinic? I just need advice.

Any help please!

Yes call the local health department and they can usually tell you the best place to get discounted sometimes free shots for children.
BTW the DEERS program is good at causing issues.
My exhusband was in the marines for 4 years, it took us a year to get our oldest son on insurance then they said 6 months later that something was wrong, they lost paperwork and he was kicked off.
We never did get the boys back on insurance through DEERS because they kept saying we were missing this paper and that paper.
Luckily we had medicaid at the time to cover the shots and stuff but if you can't qualify for that there I would call the health department and find out where to get them.
