Should Obama In His Second Term Introduces Obamadental For Dental Insurance For Seniors Above 70 Years Old?

Postby Gadhra » Sat Oct 07, 2017 7:42 am

I know this isnt a serious question but I will put my 2 cents in. I am that age and I had no dental problems as a young person. I dont have dentures and dont want them. Instead, I spend thousands from my social security to save my teeth.
Many young people have dental problems and dont want to pay to see a dentist because they expect the government to pay for everything. When you get to be 70 you have contributed something to the U.S. and deserve a dental program I think.

To all of you, 70 is not old any more when people live to be 95. People who are 70 do more than most of you with your lives in addition to working 40 years or more and fighting the good fight for what you people have now.

Actually I always thought that if healthcare was revamped in the US, dental care should have been included.

Poor oral care sometimes can kill - especially in our aging population.

Would be good for some help.

I am not sure good dental insurance exists. Retired now but I never had good dental insurance in 50 years of work. Maybe that is why dental service is actually not that expensive compared to Medical. I.e., no large pool of money.

@Oppressed Renegade .. don't be so sure. Was watching a doctor on TV the other day on CNBC and he said death statistics include accidents, military deaths and a whole host of things not related to real longevity. He said today if you are 60, expect to live another 30 years.

I am nearly 70 and in vastly better health than my parents at the same age.

Some Medicare plans do cover dental.

In some states, FQHCs cover.
In some states, PACE covers.

If we wait a few years for people to realize that the sky didn't fall in with ObamaCare and for people to realize that they're benefiting from it, we'll be ready to expand dental coverage.

Prize to Stupid answer #1: "why bother most are without teeth anyway". Well duh...then they have dentures..
they have to eat.

Prize to supid answer #2: they nearly dead. (Look up the demographics.)

Great Question.

Interesting and OMG a few cold hearted answers.

The main job of political partiy is to win.

Since Obama is no longer running (we hope) I doubt if he does this.

I am againstOobamacare and thus am against Obamadental.

BUT....the following link talks about those without dental insurance. http://worldental.org/dental-news/obama-...

INTERESTING how folks think everything has to be prepaid.

Insurance was a rarety.

Health Insurance from employers came about in WWII when wages were frozen

as a way for companies to get around wage freeze.

In other words it was Government interference in the markets.

Of course self pay (no insurance) (or no pay as those in the know call it), results in only six cents on the dollar reimbursement (payment) for hospitals.
THUS Health care providers want insurance.

AND the drug plan for seniors was brought out while George Bush was President and some on the left were AGAINST it saying it would cost money and it was drug company collusion..or something.

SO I think it is less about doing something beneficial and needed ...and is POLITICS.

SO it may not be the poor seniors but the fact that dentists and dental suppliers would benefit.

And did they support Obama???

SO unless the UNIONS want this..or the Major DEMOCRATIC contributors...then it likely wont happen.

Very complicated. And totoally not about dentalcare...

Funny how some dentists travel the globe to provide free care.
