Should I Move In With My Friend Or Not?

Postby hayym » Wed Sep 24, 2014 9:33 pm

Let me start by saying I'm 18. I live in a small house with my dad. My bedroom is really tiny and I barely have room for all my clothes and things. My sister is 16 and she is a negative ***** who I can't stand. She stays here half the time, and with our mom (about 20 minutes away) half the time and we share the room here. I really just can't stand to be around my sister. I'm also not allowed to have friends over (my dad says because the house it too small) and when I'm in a relationship the guy never gets to come over to my house, which is weird.

About a month ago my best friend who lives 10 minutes away suggested I move in with her. She lives in the finished basement of her brother's house. It has a small bedroom with a bathroom, and a living room. The living room would be my room. I wouldn't have to pay any rent, so I told her I'd think about it. I also feel like living with her would give me a better college experience since I'll be able to invite friends over and I'll kind of be on my own.

Well I brought this up to my dad and I don't think he was too fond of the idea. He said if I did it he would stop giving my money. I babysit about 3 weekends a month, but that's hardly enough to put gas in my car, eat, etc. I have a savings account with $1300 in it so I'd have to dip into that occasionally. He will still pay my phone bill, car insurance, etc.
Should I stay and deal with my sister and tiny bedroom, or move in with my friend but be cut off financially from my dad?
