Should we call the extension of unemployment benefits beyond a person's original limit welfare?

Postby gill75 » Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:58 pm

Since the original unemployment insurance money is gone and the money paid out now adds to the national deficit, shouldn't we call it welfare after the original expiration of benefits to a person runs out?

You cons supported the policies of the previous Republican administration that crashed our economy. Now you're beating up on the unemployed whom you helped adversely affect.

Millions of people have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. Until the economy reaches a healthy state where there are sufficient jobs for most of the job seekers the unemployment benefits should continue. People should not be demeaned and criticized for circumstances beyond their control. These were working people. Have you no shame?

And what would that accomplish?

There are FIVE unemployed people for every job, and you want to paint a big W on their foreheads.

And you call yourself a Christian. Nice.
