Should I Buy This Jeep Liberty?

Postby Ricardo » Sun Aug 13, 2017 4:22 pm

Originally it was a joke but my friend owns a jeep liberty 03 and is willing to sell for 5k the only catch is that it already has 120k miles on it. So my question I guess is how many miles on average does this car run without kicking out? Also what would a monthly insurance rate be for a 16 year old guy? Thanks in advance

Should I Buy This Jeep Liberty?

I purchased a used 2003 Liberty from a friend four years ago at a very good price. I used that car until last October (2010) until it had over 250,000 miles on it.

I LOVED that Jeep so much I purchased a new Liberty to replace it (which I also love, FYI).

With the '03 Liberty I had some small issues as the vehicle aged, but nothing I would consider out of the ordinary for any vehicle with so many miles on it. At the very end my transfer case (something attached to the transmission) just drop-out one day. That cost me $800, to repair, but the mechanic told me he had NEVER seen this issue happen to a Liberty before & considered my problem to be "one-of-a-kind" & a bad luck fluke.

The reasons I sold my '03 Jeep & got a new one were financial & overall safety... I put many, many miles on my vehicles for business purposes every year. I cannot afford to have the small issues that came (& will with any older-model vehicle withhigh mileage) up put me without a vehicle for a day or two for repairs. If I did significantly less mileage on vehicles & didn't travel out of town so much, I would still be driving my '03 Liberty.

So I encourage you to consider this vehicle. I donlt think you'll be dissapointed... Solid vehicle, fun & easy to drive (REALLY easy to park the Jeep almost anywhere!!!).

That would be a fair price if it had the 4.0. The miles are average for an 02. If the vehicle is in great condition, it's a good sign he took care of the mechanical stuff too, and another 80,000 miles wouldn't be too much to hope for.

The decision is purely subjective based upon your preferences. If I were buying I'd go for a new vehicle with everything I wanted. My best advice if this is not an option is to go with the lower mileage vehicle with a brother-in-law price.
