Short term life insurance when finding a new job until benefits kick in?

Postby lochlain » Tue Jul 17, 2012 10:36 am

Honestly why do I even have parents. They don't tell me anything.
I asked a question about getting term life insurance for those first 3 to 6 months when you find a job, that does not offer benefits at first.

I got an eye-opening answer.
It stated: (sort of).
Life insurance through work is useless.
What if you get cancer and can't work as much, less hours and eventually you stop working. Boom - term life insurance gone.
I NEVER thought about this - guess I'm stupid.

Someone needs to write a book about LIFE. Honest to goodness.
If you have an opposing point of view, or other things I can learn - state them.

EDIT: Okay, so if you believe you should have life insurance, go buy some. Don't depend on your employer to take care of your family. Employers are looking out for THEIR business. You buy yourself an insurance policy for YOUR dependents.
