I Am Quoted £4000 Third Party On 1.0?

Postby Mekledoodum » Sat Nov 15, 2014 4:33 am

I am almost 20 years old and I got my driving license almost a year ago, I never bought a car due to the high insurance premiums. I do live in a very high risk area. The cheapest I have been quoted is £4068 odd for a small sized engine car ! and that's on third party. Does anybody know what I could do to try and get at least a little lower? In this rate I don't think I can drive anytime soon.

Thanks

Unfortunately due to your age insurance will never be cheap.. Having said that £4068 on a 1.0L is rather high. There are a number of things you can do to lower that premium.

1) Try other companies, some insurance companies just don't like young drivers so they quote you a high premium to scare you off.

2) Never use comparison websites as they usually quote higher than contacting the company direct.

3) Phone companies and talk to an actual person, they are very negotiable.

4) Add your parents to the policy as named drivers.

4) Use a company that fit a black box to your vehicle to track when you use the car, this can bring the premium down by £400 in some cases.

5) Some companies do a 10 month policy which should be cheaper.

Good luck! :)
