Pet insurance is the biggest waste of money in the face of the earth.
Start up a little savings account for that pet and pay out of pocket.
You'll come out financially ahead.

If you are low income contact the animal shelter.
They will give you the connection to services in your county.
You can get services for very low cost and in some cases free.

All a dog needs is a rabies shot every once in a while.
Don't fall into the con that vets run of bringing your pet in every couple of months.
That's how they make money.

Nope. Pet health insurance rarely pays out anywhere NEAR what it costs, and it doesn't cover routine stuff.

Owning a pet and caring for it properly, is just expensive.

Pet insurance is a waste. You would be better off just putting moneys in a separate bank account and saving it. Statistically, pets need one trip to the vet avert year. Shop around for a vet and see if your county or city offers any clinics. I'm not sure where you live, I'm in rural TN and our rural vets are cheaper than city vets.

Yes, unfortunately it's called don't have a pet. A pet, like a car, home, etc... is an expense over and above just paying for the item. If you can't afford it, then don't have it.
