My Permanent Retainer Popped Off... Is It Serious?

Postby Yago » Fri Aug 04, 2017 5:51 am

Back story... I had braces from ages 10 to 12 1/2. When they were taken out, I got permanent retainers cemented/glued onto the backs of my teeth (the bottom 6 and top 2). I'm 20 now, and I was trying to get some food out of my top retainer today with a toothpick (I know it was stupid so don't chew me out for that) and the right side popped off. It was annoying and poking my tongue and obviously not doing anything if it wasn't attached so I popped the other side off when I got home.

My question is, do I need to get it reattached? It's been like 7 years since I got my braces off and with our crappy insurance it might be expensive to get it reglued... Also, there's glue/cement spots on the backs of my teeth that are annoying. I read that they can get ground down somewhere...

Anyway, what should I do? Also, I won't be home (in our insurance's coverage area) for another month or so.

Do not attempt to grind off the glue yourself. Im sure you know that you could damage the enamel.

nicely for me and greater than a number of people i be attentive to, whilst we've been given our braces off they positioned like a cord on the interior my 2 front enamel to steer away from me getting a spot and then a cord stretching on the interior my backside enamel. they are actually not even substantial, although. With those people get general retainers that could be taken out. And there are greater suitable than only plastic retainers there are additionally plastic with a cord interior the front, some people might desire to purely positioned on them over night for a pair years, some might desire to positioned on it 24/7 and so on. It differs between the guy. i actually had to positioned on one for 5 years.
