It's theft. I don't expect it to be there later.

Nobody is paying for health insurance now that they will not get until 2014. Over two thirds of the change in the "Obamacare" legislation directly affects the administration of Medicare and Medicaid. In order for the bureaucracy to do the paperwork on day one, then, it must staff up, gear up, and start writing manuals now - and that means spending tax money on Medicare and Medicaid administration in the next year or two, before 2014.

One of the Republican ideas that was put in "Obamacare" is interstate insurance pools. These pools will be Federally regulated because they are Interstate commerce, unlike current local pools that are within, and thus regulated by, States alone. The regulators of these pools also have to gear up, staff up, and write manuals now in order to offer the new service day one, 2014.

It is quite usual for new Federal benefit programs to take up to two years to get ready to actually operate. It is quite usual to provide the responsible agency with the money to prepare prior to appropriating the money to actually expend on benefits. If you think there is something odd or scandalous about this, you just have not been paying attention to how these things have always worked.

Your dissertation on inflation is also incorrect. The fundamental force driving inflation is the phenomenon of bank interest. When $100 on deposit must reach $105 on deposit after twelve months, the entire economy must grow 5% just to stay even in proportion. When money grows faster than the stuff you buy with it, the increase in price without an increase in value is inflation. The use of the same $20 in a series of transactions is not inflationary if there actually is value added each time.

Exactly. The plan sucks and that's why the GOP is trying to dismantle it and replace it. Obamacare was started up by stealing 500 billion out of Medicare. That's how they got it started. Let's not forget, the Democrats rammed this down the throats of Americans without Republican input whatsoever.

I didn't read all of that but it takes affect in 2013,right after osama is out of office. And it will never work look at the Tennessee health care someone needed an mri it took like a month to find one because of their health care here every hospital has a few of them. You will be dead before you get what you need.

Look back at clinton he signed the North American free trade agreement it went into affect and sent our jobs to mexico and china when he left office and had the republicans blamed.

Its a ponzi scheme they take lots of money from everyone and give just a little bit back pocketing billions.

Wow, didn't think I'd see this question again (it was brought up so many times back when the bill was passed that I thought everyone had gotten it out of their system).

But hey, let's look at the facts, alright? Obamacare happens to have a bunch of aspects already in effect, which is mainly what we're paying for now. Given that, I think it's unreasonable to state that we're paying for something that doesn't currently exist.

For the sake of argument, though, let's talk about if this was in the future. Let's say none of it is implemented now. What would it mean to delay taxation? Two things:

1) Everything that would be created in the meantime to make it possible for us to actually implement Obamacare would have to be funded elsewhere. That's a lot of cost, and that's still taxpayer dollars. Where's that money going to come from? It could come from a lot of areas, but those areas will now demand a return on that as well, which means you're still paying taxes, just in a different area.
2) More importantly, when you delay this, it means you have to pay more later. It's not like the situation is "we spend or we don't spend," eventually, the costs have to be weathered. Would you like to pay more now or later? How does it help to defer the costs till later?
