Obama care for the homeless and unemployed?

Postby hulbard » Wed May 22, 2013 8:23 pm

One thing I don't understand about this new bill is what about the unemployed or homemakers. How can you get insurance if you don't have income. We are in the era where we are unemployed and broke so how can we afford health insurance but I wonder how can the government penalize you if you don't have income coming in.

The Affordable Care Act was designed to give everyone health care one way or another. People under 26 can be on their parents insurance. You can be on a spouse's policy. You may be eligible for government subsidy like Medicaid. You wont pay a tax penalty if you are very low income. There is no record of people who are homeless anyway. The bill was intended to allow unemployed to buy insurance later this year from a state exchange which offers basic plans. If you are unemployed, how are you living without income? If you dont have any income, you wont pay a tax penalty. You can get a hardship exemption.

As much as I am a hard core democrat, I have concerns about the obama care program. But we have to start somewhere. It will take years to straighten out any healthcare programs no matter if its dems or repubs that come up with the plan. I believe the obama care plan will still have government assisted health care for those that can not afford it.

Those unfortunate souls will be condemned to survive on the new medicaid making it nearly impossible to get off once your on the roles. The employed will pay for it, like we do now, but creating a class division (which is part of sharing the wealth), will ultimately pit the lower and middle class against the rich... In the end (if progressive liberals are successful), the rich will have their money confiscated to pay for the poor and middle class. Of course no one can predict the future but common sense would tell you that Socialism is not that far off if we continue to spread the wealth around.

If you don't understand that then CLEARLY you have made no effort to find out the answer, have you?

Obviously you are literate enough to ask the question, and competent enough to get on the internet and ask this question, so what's your explanation for not just "looking the answer up"? Are you just too lazy? Or were you trying to make some sort of "political point"?
