Medicare Is Truly Wonderful?

Postby myung-dae » Thu Oct 05, 2017 10:02 am

Medicare save us ALL hundreds of billions of dollars a year.
It's one of the best things the fed. govt. has ever done, which, of course, is why Republicans hate it so much and feel they have to destroy it.

Not a lot of people know this today but when Medicare was first passed in the LBJ years, the idea was that the age limit would be reduced every year by one year, until everyone was covered! Of course it didn't work out that way because health insurance was one of the most profitable businesses in the US, and still is, and profitable businesses generate a huge amount of political financing.

I am middle-aged, self-employed.
For years I used my wife's insurance, because she had a job.
A couple of years ago, she got cancer and had to go on disability (she's doing fine, thanks for asking).
So I went out to see if I could get insurance for myself.
All the offers I got were about the same. $750 a month, just for me, not a family of four or six.
And that's with a $4500/yr deductible, so I end up paying for all the car I actually get anyway.
AND, if I'm 'lucky' enough to have heart attack or a serious car accident and I actually cost them more than the deductible, after that they pay HALF.
So we still lose our house.

So I won't have insurance until I reach Medicare age.
My whole strategy is just to be careful until then.

Medicare Is Truly Wonderful?

you're surely good. this is disgusting how many individuals refuse to take own accountability for themselves. Liberals use a minority of scientific situations regarding catastrophic ailments as an excuse to call for "reform." whilst it is composed of cost, maximum individuals are responsible as a results of fact they do no longer desire to take care of their wellbeing, and that they blame it on "grasping inner maximum coverage" for passing that cost directly to the patron. whilst it is composed of top of the selection of care, state run courses are no longer as much as par with inner maximum ones. it rather is the data. i won't be able to have self belief every person could help the bill whilst the present courses are so pathetic, and no reforms could make an risky guy or woman replace their techniques, they are only transferring the expenses around and reducing the familiar of care. large reform. this is lunacy.

If everyone funds their Medicare account for 40 or 50 years worth of " contributions " before they make a claim I'd say that would be fair enough.
