Read every exclusion possible in the policy.
From my experience, the insurance company is going to try and wiggle out of ANY sort of payment on ANY policy. They have to be that way in order not to get scammed and stay in business. The application process is the most important. If you leave out the tiniest little medical detail... you may have voided the policy if something goes bad later on... but you will have paid all the premiums... doesn't matter.
For example... "An act of God" isn't covered in many policies... well, uuuhhh... if you're really religious, I guess God does everything, so the policy covers NOTHING! Think about that.
Insurance companies care about one thing, the money they take from you. Nothing else. They are not your friend. Make SURE you get everything in writing, and it's to your satisfaction, and if you're not sure, have an insurance lawyer look it over for you. It's worth it, because you will find that many of these policies are indeed... worthless.
