Illinois State Extended Benefits Question.?

Postby Hadar » Fri Sep 29, 2017 6:33 pm

Hi everyone, I just found this website while searching for any info which is a hard things to pinpoint. I just finished up my one year of unemployment and got a letter from IDES today stating. See below::: Also of course it is a federal holiday on Monday also so I have to wait until Tuesday to go to the office. Please let me know what this means. I am very on edge and nervous that I am not going to get anymore benefits? I really would appreciate any info.

It has been determined that you are ineligible for regular unemployment insurance benefits on this claim because you have not earned $771.00 since you established your previous benefit year. If you disagree with this, bring in proof of earnings (W-2, check stubs of other evidence) since the beginning of your previous benefit year to the local office indicated below within fourteen (14) days of receipt of this notice.

Important: Even if you do not have additional wages, you may be eligible to receive or continue to receive emergency compensation (EUC) (state extended benefits). Please contact, by phone or in person, your local office to determine this eligibility.

I also wanted to mention it says this down at the bottom of the page but up at the top it tells me to call and certify on my regular day 2-17-2010, so whats the deal. Why would they tell me to certify if I am ineligible?

Thanks so much?.

Illinois State Extended Benefits Question.?

Postby Beavis » Tue Oct 03, 2017 12:55 pm

I received a notice that my claim from 1/17/10 through 1/16/2011 was denied.
Mind you, I never applied for that year because I was laid off on 1/15/09 and am on my second extension.
I figured that it was one of those automatic applications that the UI people do.
One week later I received a letter stating that my claim for the 1/17/10 through 1/16/2011 had been approved and I was in line for another $11,700 of benefits during the upcoming year.
Meanwhile, I'd been filing my extension forms which come with my every two weeks UI check (in CA you do it by mail).
So I had NO clue what was going on.

I called the magic UI telephone number (okay, it took like 1,109,785 calls and 2 hours to get through, but I was finally connected to a real person).
He told me that I should just ignore the letters because they're computer generated and the people plugging in the information didn't know what was going on.
He also told me to ignore the information as to extensions on the CA UI website because that was worthless too.
The only people who had any idea about any person's specific situation were the ones on the telephone.
After my current extension ends on 3/15/10 I am going to get another automatic 20 weeks of payments.
And by the time that was over, there'd probably be another extension in the works.

Needless to say, because I'm now 65 years old and haven't a ghost of a chance of ever being hired by anybody again at my age, I felt a lot better.

So call your magic number and find out what is really going on.
They have your individual information and your specifics.
And best of luck.
