How long do I have to file a car insurance claim in Pennsylvania?

Postby euston51 » Tue Jul 02, 2013 5:36 pm

A week ago somebody backed into my car and scratched the bumper. At the time the person said he would pay me cash. Now its been week later and that hasn't happened. He is ignoring me now. I didn't get his insurance information at the scene. What should I do or am I screwed? I have all the texts that we sent back and forth if that helps!

Did you have collision coverage on your car at the time?

If so, go ahead and file a claim under your policy. Your company will cover the damage to your vehicle less any applicable deductible. Then your company will go after the other driver for repayment. Make sure to provide your company with all the information you have on the guy.

Get a damage estimate and File a claim against his insurance company now.. A week doesn't matter.
If you don't know his insurance company but do know his name, file it with your own insurance. They will find him and will advise you what the best course of action will be. depending on the amount of the estimate, you may be advised to use your own collision coverage. Your agent t will explain it all to you.

When you have insurance..... Use it !

You are covered. You can file a claim for at least six months. It will be a collision claim subject to the collision deductible.
