8 months ago I applied for a credit card. My request was denied due to not credit history.

About 2 weeks ago I again applied hoping that this time would work, but it was again denied because of the previous same reason.

I have been living in the US for about 4 years. I have a job in which I earn 25k per year. I pay my car insurance on time. I have never had a credit card or loan in my life.

to make the story short, I want to get my credit score but I don't know how to if I can't get a credit card.

Can someone help me?

You receive one free check of your scores a year. You will have 3 separate scores.

First try Discover card. I've heard it's easy to get.
If they turn you down, then try a secured card.
Google your bank see if they offer one.
Then compare it with the one Orchard bank offers (considered a good one).
With this card, replace the funds in full each month. No games.

You can check your credit reports once a year for free at

They may mail you a request to mail proof of who you are.
Such as a dr. lic, a bill with your name on it, etc.
Follow through.
This is a great idea because it will at least establish your name and address with the 3 credit bureaus. In fact. You should take this step before trying for Discover card.
Forget about the score for about 2 years. It brings no benefit to know it.

Although many of the major credit card companies won't give you a card without a credit history, some smaller ones, like department stores, will. Find a department store that will issue you a card and apply for it. You can try getting a gas station card also. Either way, use your card but be sure to make all payments on time. Your goal is to build a good credit history, not just get a credit card.

Find a credit card company that will review your overall financial situation and not just your credit history. Some lenders will look at your employment history, your housing situation, and how often you have moved. If this is all on the up and up, they may approve your application. Again, use this card wisely.
