For Teachers- What's Consdered A Full Time Teaching Position?

Postby Upwode » Sun Oct 01, 2017 11:25 am

I am going into the teaching profession, and there are a variety of .4 , .5 , and .6 positions out there? Are there any general rules as to what the threshold is between FT and PT is in teaching? For most professions such as business, it's 32 hours, but for the teaching profession, it appears to be a bit different.
Any insight would be great.
Thanks!

I'm in Illinois.
Full-time is 8:30 - 3:30 on all days there is school.
I think it is 180 days.
I work Tues-Fri 9:00 - 2:30.
My contract is figured as a percentage of full-time.
I'm at about 71% of full-time.
That means no benefits as far as insurance or union support.
I do not get any credit towards tenure and am laid off every year right before the end of school.
Then, at the end of summer, I get a letter welcoming me back.
I do get 26 pay periods which means I get my check all through the summer.

1.0 is full time, all else is not.
