Does the US really have universal health care with a private care option that fully kicks in the year 2014?

Hi all. I know President Obama signed a universal health care bill back in early 2010. But I've noticed that people still can't get medical care without insurance or money. I've read that it's supposed to fully kick in the year 2014. I'm so happy that the US now finally has universal health care with a private care option. That's great. Now I don't have to think about moving out of my great country. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

No. There is no universal health care in the United States. President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law back in 2010, but it does not provide universal health care. Mainly, it requires health insurers to cover all of their customers medical needs while requiring everyone to get health insurance in order to help offset the additional expenses to health insurers. You can shop for private plans on state exchanges. If you cannot afford a private plan, you can get government assistance or qualify for expanded Medicare or Medicaid plans. True universal health care, though, isn't going to happen.

No, it is not a universal health care plan. He signed a bill that spans 8 years and has 85 provisions. The major one is in 2014 which requires that everyone buy insurance if you dont have it already, or you will pay a fine. When you buy the insurance you get a tax credit. It is not a universal care system. It is no different than the current private insurance system we have always had. The differences are in the reforms of the practices within the insurance business about not covering people.

There will be health INSURANCE, but whether the CARE will be there is another question. Resources become scarece when EVERYBODY competes for them.

There is no universal health care. Only a mandate of private insurance coverage.
