Cons: If A Married Couple Find Out They Have A 50% Chance Of Having A Child With A Genetic Condition...?

Postby Chano » Wed Oct 04, 2017 1:47 pm

1) Is it wrong to use birth control?

2) Are some kinds of birth control OK and others not? Which and why?

3) Should birth control be covered in this case under their insurance? Why or why not?

4) If they should become pregnant, who should be responsible for the cost of that child? Who should be responsible for the cost when that child becomes an adult? Who should be responsible for the cost if the parents die and there are no other relatives?

1) Not wrong to use...but it is UNREASONABLE to expect me to pay for your birth control in ANY way.

2) abortion is not birth control

3) That is between them and their insurer.

4) ANYONE who becomes pregnant should be responsible for the child. If they are not ready for a child, then they need to abstain or use birth control...WITHOUT the expectation that I or other taxpayers should bear any of the responsibility.

Having a genetic condition, or disability of any kind, doesn't mean that person will be feeble and unable to contribute to society. Jeez...is this how liberals think? I guess you don't know people with bona fide disabilities or genetic conditions. Not everyone is a "victim" who needs coddling the way you imply.

If they are afraid of having a baby then they should abstain form sex completely. Men are actually better at loving women, including their wives, when sex is not involved. There are few men today that are not capable of 'loving' without degrading women for their gratification though. Genetic testing should be done BEFORE marriage then the issue dies not arise.

Heterosexuals, even married heterosexuals having sex for animal gratification and manipulation is compulsive and the same as homosexuality and bestiality. You body was not given to you for your own pleasure. "Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?" I guess not.

Just take the fetus out and freeze it indefinitely, like a frozen embryo.

See, technology and the Free Market will FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!

1. I don't think it is wrong to use bc but others do and they should not be forced into using it or paying others to use it

2. It is for the insurance company to decide if it is covered under the plan that they buy, not me and not the fed govt

3. Parents should be responsible for the cost of their child

The thing that is disturbing about your q is the implication that this couple, even while armed with genetic info, is not responsible for any of the decisions they make

Wow - are you all still in high school? These answers are not from people who have had any life experience!

- Genetic testing is not perfect and cannot determine every genetic disorder.

- Does anyone understand how insurance works? EVERYONE pays a premium, and ALL that money goes into a pot.
When YOU, or ANYONE ELSE goes to a doctor for ANY COVERED SERVICE, then money is taken out of that pot to pay the bill!! Yes, YOU are paying for OTHER PEOPLE'S medical bills all the time! Hello!!

- Since when is it morally wrong for a married couple to have sex?

- Birth control pills are NOT the only form of birth control, nor are they only for birth control.
Many women cannot take birth control pills... duh!

1) Is it wrong to use birth control?

- That is up to the individual, birth control isn't under attack here.

2) Are some kinds of birth control OK and others not? Which and why?

- Again, Individual choices and individual Freedom.

3) Should birth control be covered in this case under their insurance? Why or why not?

- This is a Constitutional issue, If an insurance company or employer doesn't want to cover birth control, there should be no law or mandate in place to say that they have to. What's next? Every employer has to cover Viagra at no charge.... hey, let's go one better, every employer has to cover penis enlargement pills and breast enlargement surgery. BTW b.c. is $9 a month at Wal-Mart

4) If they should become pregnant, who should be responsible for the cost of that child? Who should be responsible for the cost when that child becomes an adult? Who should be responsible for the cost if the parents die and there are no other relatives?

- This is something that we are seriously lacking in this country today...... it's called PERSONAL responsibility. "Who should be responsible for the cost if the parents die and there are no other relatives?" This is what Godparents are for, it's not just a title that you give your friends or parents when you have a baby.

1) My doctor teaches a drug-free method of preventing pregnancy, but you have to be RESPONSIBLE for your health and your bedtime behavior.

2) to each her own, but don't ask me to pay your bill

3) pills cost $4 a month at Wal Mart. My plan does not cover this (unless it is for medical issues, not birth control), nor maternity care. This keeps my rates lower, and meets MY needs.

4) The parents should bear the cost. and a severe handicap there are existing programs that I am fine with paying for to help the child.

oh, and as for 'who pays that cost when they hit adulthood'? The government rules are AWFUL on this topic. My niece is 100% disabled, but she can work and chooses to work. Because she chooses to work, she doesn't get over $1400 a month in disability and more importantly since she does not get disability she has no health insurance. The government screws the handicap over as adults if they choose any job.
(she has a metal flex rod for a spine, missing three ribs, has slings holding up internal organs, and other stuff. but she wants to work, not collect a check)
