I asked one agent why and he said :young men are more aggressive and likely to take more risk while driving" I have never even had a parking ticket! Just because im young doesnt mean I will drive wild or speed. Is this discrimination? WOMEN AE WAY WORSE DRIVERS THAN MEN!

I definitely don't think that women are worse drivers than men, but it does suck to get raped by astronomical car insurance rates. Men do often get charged a bit more, though. Sh!tty. I was paying $120 a month to insure just my truck at one point. How much you pay is also heavily determined by the make and model of your vehicle. Also, just being young means you pay more, male or female. Some insurance policies will lower your rate if you take a driving class. You should speak with your agent yourself to talk about getting a lower rate, most are very willing to work with you.

I used to work for an insurance company, the company, not an agent. If women really were worse drivers than men, their rates would be higher. Insurance companies are 99% run by men, men who want to make money. They wouldn't cut women a deal just because of gender. Young men do tend to drive worse than young women, though the ladies are catching up fast on the lousy driving scale. Blame texting. When, if, you get married or reach birthday 35, your rates will tend to lessen. Fatherhood tends to make people more responsible too.

It's not raw discrimination. It's profit motive.

The problem is that, whilst many young men are good drivers, and better than many young women and older drivers, there's a small group of what is best defined as 'idiots', who charge about and take too many risks, and thus ruin everything for the rest of us.

Insurance rates are not based on you personally. They are based on averages.
Sadly young men are a higher risk than older people.
It is true that some older people are appalling drivers but they get lower rates because on average older people are a lower risk.
That's life.

I can't afford to have a car or insurance, that is why I don't have a car.
