Broken Shoulder, No Insurance, May Need Surgery?

you won't be able to find coverage that is going to cover the shoulder injury, it's too late.
sorry, but that's the risk you accepted when you decided to not carry health insurance on your son.
you need to find a local charity that helps with medical costs or a dr that will work out a payment plan with you.
maybe start with your local county or city health dept, they may be able to point you in the right direction for assistance

Insurance is not going to cover your son now because the injury is already there.
You will need to set up some kind of payment plan.

None, outside Medicaid.

You can't buy insurance AFTER the injury happens, that covers that injury.

There is no insurance that will retroactively accept you or your son.

You are going to need to pay for this surgery out of your own pocket.

Ok i live in MD also, most youngsters in MD qualify for MCHP (maryland children well being application) a protracted as he wasnt drop out of your coverage in the final 6 months. Go browsing to Healthcare entry to get more know-how. Additionally that you may go to a neighborhood health core or a sanatorium and see about seeing a health practitioner or getting economic assistance so your costs will likely be scale down

You have no chance of finding insurance that will cover anything that is already needed.
Insurance only covers things that begin to be needed after you get the insurance.
Insurance only covers injuries that happen while the person has insurance; insurance does not cover injuries that happened before getting insurance.

The only way to get help is to pay for the surgery, yourself, with only your own money, without using insurance.

You are legally responsible to pay for your son's health care.
Go to an urgent care clinic, as the bill will be thousands of dollars less than an ER. Insurance has to be purchased before you use it, not at the time of your injury to be in effect. Do not go to the ER. Go to a county clinic, urgent care clinic, or any community clinic where the charges will be lower than private doctor.
Why do you need a specialist, and who will take you without insurance? That is very negligent on your part not to have your child covered by insurance.

Maryland Health Insurance Plan or MHIP would cover him if he can wait until February for coverage (deadline for January was yesterday).
Also, being a child, he can't be denied coverage, so you could sign him up for open enrollment next month OR buy an individual plan for the both of you.

Not sure if he could wait for any of those options to come through, but that's the deal.

If you crash your car without insurance, then you need to pay to have it fixed.

Same with health insurance. You can't buy it after the accident.

Most shoulder fractures, with the exception of the glenoid fossa, do not require surgery.

The most common injury is the collar bone, it does not need surgery.

Make sure you know all the options before you agree that surgery is even needed. There are many, many aggressive orthopedic surgeons out there that are too quick to cut and do not explain all of the treatment options.
