My boyfriend won't get a job?

My boyfriend won't get a job?

Postby galterio » Tue Aug 14, 2012 6:59 pm

I moved in with my boyfriend and his mom about a year ago. He had a job and helped me move out of my parents house, but he recently lost his job. He says he's been looking for a job but he hasn't been trying as hard as he could be. This is starting to stress me out because I only get paid minimum wage. I have to pay for rent and his cars insurance and it doesn't seem like a lot but I don't make a lot to begin with. I don't want to leave him because I love him, but sometimes I just get so stressed out that I am tempted to. I feel like I shouldn't have this problem because we are not even married yet. I don't have to have money problems but I don't think he realizes how stressed I am. Is there something I can do to make him get a job? Would leaving him make him realize?

My boyfriend won't get a job?

Deep breath.

He "recently" lost his job, he's not going to try superhard to get one for awhile. It's okay if he has a lull,, where he just wants to relax a little bit. Be supportive, and just gently kick his butt into gear after awhile.

ONLY IF HE HASN'T HAD A JOB FOR 6 MONTHS:

You do not owe him beyond your own half of the rent, including his car insurance. Even if it might benefit you in the long run, prod him into getting a job through self-motivation.

A relationship is a team sport if he isn't out trying you are not obligated to support him.. Love is one thing survival is another. Leaving him sure would he now has mom to support him and that won't sit right. Insurance cars? not me.

Leaving him will definitely make him wake up, but it isn't necessary. Just talk to him.
