Average cost of living in Los Angeles?

It depends on so many variables. If you have central air, and the house is about 2500 sq feet, maybe $250 - $600+ a month for electricity during the summer, much less during the winter, but you'll pay about that much for gas heating during the winter. Depends on type and size of house, location, efficiency of equipment, how often you have air/heat on, etc.
Trash pick up, about $250 to $400+ a year.
Water, anywhere from $150 to $500 or even $1000 a month, depends on location and landscaping.
Homeowners, depends, good insurance, nice belongings, $2000+ a year fire & theft, etc. Earthquake, about $2500+ a year. Could be much more depending on company, claim history, location (high fire area, flood area), type of building (brick, stilts etc = $$$) belongings + umbrella policy costs.
Landline phone is about $40+ a month.
Internet $15 to $65 a month.
Cable/Satellite $125+ a month for package with most channels.
Groceries depends on how many and what food, from $300 to $1200+ a month.
Security from $25 to $500+ a month, depends on type.
Property tax is about 1.25%, so $20,000 a year.
If you live in the hills, mandatory brush clearance typically runs $2500+ a year, depending on lot size.

Good luck!

Average cost of living in Los Angeles?

With all those costs, it'll be an average of $3000 all together assuming that you're all by yourself.

Now here's the flaws:

- You would've known how much HOA fees cost before making the purchase of a 1.6 million dollar home (you would've consulted the real estate agent about it before making the purchase.) Plus, HOA fees vary on the area whether it has a country club, golf course, gated community, pool, water/trash paid, etc.

- Electricity is based on how many people will be living in the house as well as how much of each will you use. This also includes: Heat/Air, Natural Gas, and Water/Sewage.

- Landline is based on how much you will use the phone for.

- Internet is based on what package you want.

- Premium cable is always the overpriced $100 mo.

So, yeah. Sorry you didn't get the, "OMGG! SOOOO JEALUZZZZ!!" response that you wanted.
