Are these things worth paying for whilst traveling?

Postby kaleem47 » Wed Apr 11, 2012 6:59 am

I will be traveling for two months abroad and am worried that I will just be wasting money getting the following:

- Laptop insurance, I don't have housing insurance nor contents! to cover theft, accidental damage as the warranty won't cover this £6.99
- Tag Luggage tracker £8.99 or will the airline I'm traveling with cover this already
- Surge protector for my apple mac, the one I have covers for only 250 jules and somebody said it should be 600 above?

would be very thankfull for serious answears, trying to save my money before I get there.
cheers

Don't buy laptop insurance. Rather, back up your laptop using the cloud (Mozy, Carbonite, Dropbox, etc.) Then, if you something goes wrong, you can buy another laptop if needed.

Tag Luggage tracker - total rip off

Surge protector - Worth Every Farthing

why travel with a expensive laptop? get a second hand one for travel and sell it when u get home.
u never said where u are going so if it is a high crime area then get laptop insurance if it will replace yours if stolen, luggage tracker well depends on how u paid and airline etc do the homework.

You do need travel insurance. Without it, if something happens, you're screwed. Here's an article on travel insurance to help you better decide: http://informationalarticlesource.com/?p=353
